Sadly this week we were informed that Frederick Marsden Youth Centre at Kallangur where we hold our retreats has not survived the financial fall out of COVID restrictions and has permanently closed it doors at this stage.

Given we have such a large space available for our classroom, we have decided to run an in store crop on the same weekend to allow people who have made plans to join us to still do so for at least a couple of days.

Everyone registered for our May and August retreats has now been contacted and offered priority placing at our in store retreat.

We will set another date for further in store retreats so if you have missed out please leave your name with us for the next available dates.

IN STORE CROP ~ SATURDAY 27TH JUNE ~ 9AM – 9PM

Cost: $45.00 per person

You will be provided with a full trestle table each to ensure safe distancing and extra cleaning measures are in place before and after the event.

All day tea and coffee, morning tea, afternoon tea, lunch and dinner are included along with a welcome gift and lucky door ticket for a great prize pack.

Cards with Deb and Sue

These relaxed and fun classes explore an array of fantastic card folds and techniques in a supportive environment. Enjoy laughs and chats as you make new friends, fun cards and learn lot of tricks along the way.

Bring your basic tool kit – trimmer, adhesives and basic tools. Cutting mats are provided.

Beginners may try their first class without a tool kit as Deb and Sue will share items while you gather your supplies for ongoing classes.

Cost $15.00 ~ includes class kit

Tips and Tricks with Sharon

These 30 minute sessions are designed to help you better understand your tools and equipment so you can get the most out of them. Techniques will change each week with new topics to explore.

Scrap and Chat

Bring a friend or make new ones as you work on your chosen projects with the luxury of having a shop at your fingertips as you create. These sessions are free – simply bring your tools and projects along. Bookings essential.

Let’s Play

Each week, we will explore different tools, techniques and mediums with a hands on approach while you create a small project that allows you to try before you buy. All materials provided.

Crop

Escape the real world and join other crafters for up to 10 hours of creative play time – grown up style. Bring your tools and projects and ignore all the chores of home as you enjoy adult conversation and friendship. Nibbles, dinner and dessert is provided.

You can come and go as you need to if you are indispensable.

Fresh, Fun and Fabulous Cards

This bright and bold card kit showcases the gorgeous Bo Bunny Double Dot range. Everything you need to make 10 cards is already cut, punched and die cut for you – all you need to do is learn the tips and tricks to assemble them and you will be able to re-create these cards in many other colour combinations. It is great value with all your materials, 2 full packs of Kaiser Clear Sticker sentiments and a pack of rhinestones. You will get 5 cards completed in class with all the materials provided to finish off the remaining 5 cards.

Layered Tag

Have a play with the new Distress Oxide inks, die cutting, punching, Inka Gold and getting a little messy as you create this layered tag – a great chance to play with materials before you buy them. Bring an apron.

Jane will be visiting Brisbane to teach 2 amazing classes at A Place to Create.

Cards and Tags

9.30am – 12.30pm

Let Jane show you how to make some amazing cards and tags which highlight the stunning new Prima Wild and Free papers. Your kit includes 4 full sheets of Wild and Free, cardstock and an amazing array of flowers, Imaginarium chipboard, metals and gorgeous embellishments.

Please bring your basic tool kit (mats are provided), a brown ink pad for edges, black archival ink for chipboard, and a ruler with inch measurements.

Cost: $45.00 includes all materials (Extra kits will be available if you can’t make it to the class)

12 x 12” Patchwork Pieces Project

2.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Jane is the master of these amazing Patchwork Projects which have become famous around Australia with monthly kit clubs and the likes. Usually only available in 8×8 kits, Jane is preparing a dedicated kit for this class that allows you to create a 12×12 project perfect for framing in a shadow box or expanding on to create a larger keepsake piece that you can add on to for weeks or months afterwards.

Please bring your basic tool kit, inks and adhesives. Further requirements to be advised.

Cost: $75.00 includes all materials (Extra kits will be available if you can’t make it to the class)

Light supper, tea and coffee provided (If you have special dietary requirements, please bring your own snacks / food as required)

Saturday 3^rd and Sunday 4^th June ~ Copic Master Class with X-press Graphics and Sasha Hartmann and Trevor Bell on behalf of X-Press Graph-X Supplies Pty Ltd

The Copic Certification is designed to teach you how to get the most out of your markers. It is broken into two separate classes:

Standard Certification
Initially designed for paper crafters, the Standard Certification program has evolved to benefit crafters, illustrators and designers. This technique based, one-day intensive program aims to provide a hands on class covering the most important aspects of Copic’s product lines and techniques. It includes detailed product knowledge, blending techniques, mixed media techniques, testing inks and papers, and how to achieve the best possible results when colouring with Copic. You will receive a compressive manual covering the full range of Copic products and an extensive kit of Copic products.

Intermediate Certification
The Intermediate Certification has been developed for people who want to know more of the artistic aspects of working with Copic products. You must have completed the Standard Copic Certification class. In this class, you will cover shading, shadows and in depth colour selection. Most importantly, you will gain the confidence to make more complex colour selections. If you want to take your colouring to the next level, this class is for YOU! You will receive a comprehensive manual and products.

25^th-27^th July 2014

We hope that you are able to join us for our retreat we are holding at A Place to Create. We are holding the retreat at the shop, so there is no need for planning to go away or accommodation costs. We are going to bring you some amazing classes at fantastic value. We have planned classes throughout the whole weekend from Friday night through to Sunday afternoon. You can just pop in and out to attend classes as necessary, just select the classes you would like to attend and make your bookings. We have left time between classes for you to pop out to grab food or feel free to bring a snack with you.

Places are limited- Pre Paid bookings are essential to secure your booking- however if you are booking several classes and need a little time to pay, just talk to us.

The shop will be open all weekend while the retreat is going on so if you need supplies pop on in…

Art of Life Double Layout with Sharon.

Using Kaiser’s Art of Life paper Collection Sharon will show you how to create a stunning double page layout. Layer upon layer using acetate, flowers, die cuts, buttons and more Sharon will make this layout pop right in front of your eyes.

Saturday morning 26^th July 2014 from 10.30-12.30pm

Graphic 45 Double Page Layout and 4 Cards with Sharon.

Create a Double Page Layout and 4 Cards using Graphic 45 papers. You will use pearls, punches, feathers, metal buttons, lace, flowers and more to create your masterpiece and cards.

Cost: $50

Bring a basic tool kit, adhesives including 3D foam and 450 glue, distressing tool.

Saturday afternoon 26^th July 2014 from 2pm-5pm

Trellis and Window Technique Layouts
with Sandra and Gayle.
You will create 2 Double Page Layouts in this class full of technique and tips. This class is full of different techniques to teach you different ways to use your embossing folders and punches. We will show you how to use a distressing tool, punches, papers, embossing, paint, pleated ribbon, chipboard, lace, banners, flowers, pins and more to create not one but two stunning double page layouts.

Cost $65

Bring a basic tool kit, trimmer, adhesives including 3D foam and 450 glue, craft knife and mat, med paint brush, sanding block, distressing tool, teal or aqua ink pad. Also bring a flat linen or cotton tea towel to sand card on.

Create 6 stunning Shabby Chic cards using Teresa Collins papers, card, embossing, distressing, ribbon, flowers, string, lace, mesh, banners, brads, bling, pearls and more.

Christmas in July Layout and Cards

Create a bright and fun Double Page Christmas layout plus create 4 Christmas cards using the Bo Bunny Christmas Magic Papers and embellishments. You will have materials for 4 more cards and a photo in your kit to complete at home. Includes all materials for class, a complete 6 x 6 paper pad, a full set of alpha’s plus heaps of extra’s.

Create some lovely cards, whilst learning the basic techniques and tips of stamping. These ideas can easily be transferred to your scrapbook pages.

Focus on multiple photo’s and layering paper techniques whilst you put together 5 amazing double page layouts. While the kit includes embellishments we are going to show you how effective these layouts are just on their own, then we’ll add the embellishments across the pages and watch them pop even more. NEW CARD KIT

Our new card kit ‘Pastels’ is ready to be collect in store today-

Create 15 unique cards with heaps of extra’s to make many more cards. We have used black and white as our base and then worked with a pastel colour pallet to create 15 stunning cards. We’ve added flowers, ribbon, brads and of course bling to compliment the pastel colours.
