I was fortunate to attend a fundraising event held by The Carers Foundation Australia at Victoria Park. This incredible charity was set up by Ronnie Benbow and her husband Michael and is based in Cedar Creek. I was made aware of The Carers Foundation by one of our wonderful customers Kim Steinmuller who herself is a carer. Ronnie holds wellness retreats for unpaid carers and her story is very inspiring. They are real people providing real support. Did you know there are over 2.65 million carers in Australia who make up 11% of the population ? 7 out of 10 carers are woman and 1 in a 11 carers are under the age of 25. Over one third of primary carers have a disability. These are just a few facts. A Place to Create has supported many fantastic causes over the years and we really wanted to make a difference to whoever we supported. We have been looking to support a local community charity and having been a carer myself, I am only too aware of the stress , anxiety and the constant emotional support one has to give to the person you are caring for. We donated for the auction a $250.00 gift voucher. To offer our wonderful space for those amazing carers who are creative and do not get the opportunity to do something they are passionate about, will make such a difference.
